To The Voters Of Surry

The Fire Engineers, and Truck Committee Members, would like to express our appreciation for your support of our recommendation at our town meeting, Thursday, March 16, 2006. A lot of time and effort went into this proposition, and it’s rewarding to see such support in our community. We truly do appreciate the perspective presented by the budget committee, and others, for they kept our nose to the grindstone. There is still much work in this regard, as there will be ongoing communication with the manufacturer as the construction evolves. Upon delivery, the department will have a training agenda to familiarize our members with operational skills, necessary for safe operation.

We also will be planning for the disposition of our 68 GMC which has served the town so well. There are several in town who will especially miss our M3 unit, as this was the first new truck to be purchased by the Town of Surry. It was really the occasion that marked a milestone in the history of the Surry Fire Department.

Again, Thank You

Fire Engineers, Town Of Surry:

Chief John Berglund

Deputy,Roger Bienvenu

Deputy, Durwin Clark

FIRE ENGINEERS' REPORT
The Surry Fire Department and Police Department have information available for homeowners interested in installing Knox Box Systems. This allows residents to provide access for emergency services in the event you are away or incapacitated. Contact either department if you are considering a fire or burglar alarm system.

If you have not yet installed a carbon monoxide detector, and have a wood, gas or oil heat unit in your home, you may wish to do so. This year we experienced a situation, which was not a false alarm, but problems were averted because of a detector, which the resident had installed. Contact an engineer if you have any questions.

A review of Fire Permit requirements:

No permit is required when there is a snow cover.
However, we ask that you give a courtesy call to Mutual Aid on the business line, at 352-1291, to let them know who and where.
A permit is required any time there is inadequate snow cover.
You can obtain one from the Warden or Deputy Wardens listed below:

John Berglund 352-7398
Roger Bienvenu 352-3976
Durwin Clark 352-7790
Ken Maynard 352-0822
Ken Smith 352-4572

Permits allow you to burn from 5PM to 9AM or while it is raining (state law), with some restrictions.

Respectfully submitted,
Fire Engineers
Town of Surry
