On March 12, 2002, the voters of the Town of Surry will be asked to decide
several ballot questions proposed by the Planning Board. These questions all
represent amendments to the zoning ordinance that are based on goals and objectives
adopted by the Board last year, as part of the update to the Land Use section
of the Surry Master Plan. As promised at the public hearing on the Land Use Plan,
the Board has spent the past year working on proposals that would facilitate
implementation of the Plan. There are three specific Objectives from the Land Use
Plan that the Board focussed on, including:
Economic Development - Land Use creating a Village District - Land Use creating a
Rural Residential and General Districts.
Complete copies of the proposed revisions are available at Town Hall.
Participation by every eligible voter, or those who wish to register to vote
is strongly encouraged.
Those who have any questions should attend the public hearing regarding this
issue Monday January 14th at 7:30 PM at the Surry town hall.
