Town Hall Rental Policies and Procedures:

As the Town Hall is the property of the community and available for public use, it is essential that accesses be made in a consistent fashion, with scheduling and control the responsibility of the Board of Selectmen.
The Town Hall shall be available to all interested parties in good standing, at a reasonable rate, payable in advance.

As of October 1, 1999 the rate shall be set at no charge, for rental by residents of Surry, whose property taxes are current. In the case of residents who rent, this criteria is the same. In the case of non-residents the fee is set at $15.00 per hour with a two-hour minimum. Non residents will be required to make payment in advance, by either cash or money order, payable to the Town of Surry.
Personal checks will only be accepted from Town Residents. At the discretion of the Board of Selectmen, fees can be reduced or negated.

All users are liable for clean up and trash removal within 24 hours of departure time. Non residents and residents who do not have a property tax obligation will be required to post a $50.00 deposit to cover any potential damage to the property, clean up and garbage removal costs. Upon completion of all clean up and trash removal, the bond will be returned in full. This bond must be paid in cash or by money order, payable to the Town of Surry.

In order to ensure no duplication of obligations, anyone wishing to rent the hall will be required to coordinate with Larry Sportello at 603-352-8475 to determine availability of the property for the date in question. Once that date is logged in, the deposit must be made in full to ensure availability. Until receipt of deposits, the property is considered available to other interested parties.

As key entry is required to access the property, disbursement of keys will be limited to Town Selectmen, unless the renter has previous access to the facility.

While the usage is at the discretion of the renter, the clear intent of the Board of Selectmen is to limit use to acceptable activities, including anniversary and birthday celebrations, church gatherings, community activities, etc.

The Board of Selectmen reserves the right to deny access to any group or activity that it deems in poor taste, or in violation of any laws, ordinances or regulations, whether local, County. State or Federal in nature.
